 THE STORM REPORT

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

Kings County, Hants County, Annapolis County

Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring.

A low pressure system currently over the Eastern Seaboard will track slowly northeastward towards the Maritimes. This system will spread wintry conditions over southern Nova Scotia this afternoon and northern regions this evening. The snow will change to a mixture of ice pellets and freezing rain and then to rain tonight or Monday. The freezing rain will persist the longest over central and eastern portions of the province. Snow and ice pellet amounts are expected to be in the range of 10 to 15 cm followed by several hours of freezing rain.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
