 THE STORM REPORT

10:43 AM AST Wednesday 15 February 2017
Winter storm warning in effect for:

  • Kings County, Hants County, Annapolis County

Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

A low pressure system is forecast to develop off Cape Cod late this afternoon and track towards Nova Scotia tonight. Snow will develop this evening and spread northward throughout the night. Gusty northeast winds of 80 km/h combined with the heavy snow will give reduced visibilities in blowing snow. Snowfall amounts of up to 30 cm are expected by Thursday afternoon with this storm.

Conditions will begin to gradually improve Thursday afternoon as the low moves north of the province.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays.
